Watermelon Popsicles for FUN

I hesitated to write this recipe because it’s so simple. Yet, we don’t bring our basket of cookie cutters down off the shelf everyday and I got some photos, so here goes an easy-to-make recipe.

True to name, watermelon is an excellent source of water …. one cup contains 20% of your daily value of vitamin C and 14% for vitamin A. Watermelon also has a lower calorie content than most fruit; delivering more nutrients per calorie.

Getting Men Into B.E.D (Body Ecology Diet)

I interviewed my husband, Tomas, to help other couples better understand each other when one, or both, is healing with The Body Ecology Diet (B.E.D.). When I met Tomas in 2011, I’d been on stage 1 of B.E.D. for a year to clear a stubborn systemic case of yeast overgrowth that was causing multiple health issues.

I was nervous that by sharing my body, I’d be re-exposed to yeast and bacteria from his own health issues and need to start my healing process over again.

At the time, I was a single mother working as a therapeutic chef and placenta encapsulationist and studying nutrition each evening in a graduate program. I was busy. Working his health/dietary needs was an added strain I’d do again in a heartbeat for eating the body ecology way brought us into balance (in more ways than one). I wish the same for you and your own intimate relationships.

A Safer Kind of Floss: Making The Switch

Most floss is toxic because it is made from nylon, a petroleum-based product, coated with a Teflon synthetic resin – think nonstick cookware – called PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). Both are carcinogenic and can cause cancer, arthritis, altered immune response, thyroid disease, hyperactivity, hormone imbalance, and reduced fertility.

When I first heard this, I thought “how can a piece of floss cause so many issues?”

Here’s the short version of why certain kinds of floss can harm …. floss that contains PTFE can leave traces of chemicals in your mouth that will either be swallowed or absorbed into your bloodstream through the thin mucosa lining of your mouth; especially if you floss once or twice a day for years on end as many of us do.

Salmon Head Stock for Strong Bones

Salmon heads are packed with tender meat and abundant fat along the jawbone. They are especially prized for making fish stock as a base for soup of all kinds and contain vitamin A, Omega-3, iron, zinc, and calcium.

I was apprehensive to make salmon head stock. Though I had experience with chicken and other meat stocks, I’d never made fish stock and imagined the whole house smelling ‘fishy’.
