Candidiasis, a.k.a. Candida or yeast infection, is not a germ, bug, or disease. This is an immune disorder named after the most common family of yeast, Candida albicans, that live in the human digestive tract. A healthy bowel will contain a 10:1 bacteria to yeast ratio with good yeast outnumbering the bad bacteria to maintain ecological balance. Yet, certain factors throw this balance off, including stress, sugar, the pill, vaccinations, and antibiotics. All these factors can allow otherwise harmless yeast organisms to become more active, grow in #’s, and potentially cause health symptoms.
Yeast overgrowth is not only localized in the gut. These organisms can travel through a ‘leaky gut’ and become systemic …. this means the once only localized overgrowth of Candida albicans can grow roots into the gut lining and burrow in deep to this soft tissue where they eventually can pass through means of the bloodstream. Once in blood these organisms travel through the body to potentially influence susceptible organs like the person/host’ brain, heart, lungs, bladder, etc.

How I overcame my yeast infection.
When I healed myself of a stubborn Candidiasis yeast infection in 2010, I suffered what felt to be every body discomfort under the sun and was in a fight for my health and happiness. I felt bloated, looked pregnant, tired to the bone, with horrible skin acne. My stomach suffered quick turns of constipation and diarrhea and I felt confused how to help myself.
A friend turned me on to a book called Body Ecology Diet (B.E.D.) to use a sound, step-by-step process of weaving traditional therapeutic nutrition into core principles that can be easily followed to conquer most any infection in the body. I was astounded at how quickly I turned my health around; in a matter of weeks I felt more in control of the situation and had my bloating down 60%.
I utilized the B.E.D. way of eating to heal myself before training to become a Therapeutic Nutrition Consultant in order to help other people regain natural gut microbiome and digestive strength without the use of antibiotics. You can learn more about my work here.
I followed various eating regimes to heal myself and was most impressed with Tara who incorporates principles in a seamless, harmonious manner ~Y.G., Cedar Rapids, IA.

Diet change is the single most effective way in my opinion to rebuild the body’s natural strength and immunity. Making changes to how and what you eat can reign in yeast (virus, parasitic, bacteria) overgrowth living in the body. Unless you/The Host make an effort to rid your body of the food that Candida albicans love and feed on to grow in population then they will win as they quickly take over the gut and build colonies the size of NYC in a matter of minutes; even burrow roots into soft gut lining (a.k.a. leaky gut) and go systemic into the blood affecting other organs, maybe even triggering the immune system and flaring the body in other ways.
If Candida albicans get through gut lining ‘leaky gut’ into the blood they can wrap around internal organs, most commonly they gravitate to the liver, heart, and lungs. Once this happens you may have a condition called systemic yeast overgrowth that (I can testify to) is far more difficult to reverse. Not impossible because I did this yet took me a ton of effort and years of my life eating and living in a focused diligent manner.
I marvel at the emotional/spiritual healing I’m moving through to heal my gut. I have struggled for YEARS and in a few weeks with Tara, I feel lighter, more present than ever. Try her beginner’s recipe for unsalted probiotic vegetables! ~ B.U., VT (Be Seen)
Stay Balanced
When Candida albicans overtake the good flora (probiotics) living in the gut than they can off gas harmful toxins that drain a human’s (their host) energy and leaves immune system susceptible to illness. True healing originates in your body being able to maintain itself the way that it is designed to do as a self-healing organism. Start with educating yourself on the inner ecosystem and what protocol you want to use to move forward.
