Oven Incubator Kit to Make Probiotic Food on B.E.D.

When I first started The Body Ecology Diet (B.E.D) I jumped into making milk kefir, young coconut pudding, and cultured vegetables; quickly discovering that these probiotic-rich foods were easy to make but hard to keep warm during the incubation period.

Most probiotic food on B.E.D. requires a steady 70-72 degrees F. during the culturing period to encourage the friendly bacteria within to wake up and multiply and work their ‘probiotic’ magic. What do you do when the temperature in your home goes up and down, day and night? Having many years of experience making these foods, I discovered that when the temperature fluctuated too much, my jars of food would spoil. Either because it was too warm and the good flora inside bred too fast, or because it was too cold and they didn’t breed fast enough.

I tried culturing the probiotic food in our little bathroom with a space heater and thermometer. This worked, but it was not an ideal situation. I tried laying a seed mat in a cooler with the Mason jars of food on top of that. This too worked, but I was constantly checking on them.

After losing several jars due to inconsistent temperatures and feeling like my whole house was becoming one big incubator, I asked my husband, a civil engineer, to help design a product to make this cultured food business an easier job.

Here is what he came up with…an Incubator Kit that plugs a regular light bulb (source of heat) into a digital temperature control device that you set at the desired temperature to maintain a consistently warm environment. YOU are in charge of controlling the temperature.

This tool transforms your oven (cooler, cardboard box) into a cozy space for your probiotic food to incubate at a stable temperature. No more worrying about your ‘babies’. They will be nice and warm. I can’t tell you what a relief this has been for me and countless others. These foods are an important part of The Body Ecology Diet and this tool makes this part of life easier.

Turns Oven (Or a cooler/cardboard box) Into An Incubator

This Incubator Kit allows you to select and maintain the temperature that you want to culture your probiotic food at.

How it works:.

  1. Place the Incubator Kit into an insulated space (i.e. oven, cooler, cardboard box) and plug in.
  2. Put your jars of probiotic food into the space.
  3. Set the gauge to the desired temperature.
  4. The light bulb (heat source) will automatically turn on and stay on until desired temperature is reached. Once it is at the desired temperature, the light bulb will automatically turn off. If the temperature happens to drops below your desired temperature, than the light will turn back on.

Benefits of Oven Kit

  • Select any temperature between 68°F and 108°F
  • Displays temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit scale
  • Automatic safety shut-off, if probe temperature reaches 108˚F
  • Maximum of 1000 watts of heating devices can be plugged into thermostat
  • Normal wattage light bulb used
  • Make cultured food more easily
  • No more checking on your “babies”, they’ll be nice and warm
  • Perfect for making probiotic-rich food on Body Ecology Diet
